Commissioning stained glass is a collaborative process. After an initial discussion about the nature of your project, the size, its aspect, ambient light, your ideas about colour and imagery, we could arrange a site visit if we think it helps. We will also discuss pricing, which is based on size, complexity, the quality of the glass used and your budget. I will ask for a small deposit. Having heard your ideas and understood the practical aspects, I will prepare a colour sketch which I will send to you for your comments. I will amend the sketch as necessary until you are happy with my proposal.
The next step in the stained glass commissioning process is to make a cutting pattern, the cutline, in which I often include details for the painting of the glass. It is a full scale drawing with indications of where the lead will go and the main painted features. This too I will send it to you. If it meets with your approval, you may want to visit me to have a closer look at the design, look at the glass to be used and get an insight into the making of your panel.

I will then proceed to cut the glass, sandblast, paint and fire it as required, assemble it using lead strips and arrange for collection or delivery.

The options vary from small, free-hanging panels and panels mounted on plinths to full-size windows or complete schemes.
